Challenge

AD Poids Lourds contacted us to help them recruit heavy goods vehicle mechanics to complete a certified training programme (CQP) in this field. The aim was to start the training two months later with the recruitment of five students for permanent heavy goods vehicle mechanic positions.

In order to successfully identify suitable mechanic profiles in this sector, we had to support the AD Poids Lourds Human Resources team. The team did not want to focus all its energy on recruiting these profiles. As a result, a dedicated project manager at AD Poids Lourds and another at Morgan Philips Outsourcing were able to collaborate on a weekly basis on these recruitment assignments, supported by the AD Network Manager.

To carry out this task, the Morgan Philips Outsourcing team needed to be able to use AD Poids Lourds' ATS for their search: sorting through the main applications received, selecting the best profiles, contacting them and conducting interviews to assess their level of motivation for the position and their experience as mechanics (temporary, permanent or fixed-term contracts, etc.).

For this project to succeed, it was also necessary to involve the integrated and franchised internal garages in this ambitious project.

Solution

Initially, we focused all our efforts on developing an effective recruitment strategy to find candidates for future Heavy Goods Vehicle Mechanic positions. We set up weekly steering meetings involving a Project Manager at AD Poids Lourds and another at Morgan Philips Outsourcing.

In addition to these meetings, we maintained daily communication with the two Human Resources Managers in charge of recruitment and benefited from the support of the Director of the Ad Poids Lourds Network to make this mission a success.

Next, our Research Officers were trained in the use of the client's ATS to sort through the responses to the advertisements and produce the reports expected by the client. After a month of sorting through applications, we completed our sourcing by using partner CV databases and LinkedIn Recruiter to contact potential candidates directly. Each candidate was interviewed by telephone to verify that they met the administrative requirements imposed by the training organisation and that they were genuinely motivated to become a heavy goods vehicle mechanic.

Weekly steering meetings enabled us to follow up on each candidate sent for an interview at the garage selected for their training, whether it was an integrated or franchised garage. During this search, the involvement and support of the Network Manager was a key factor in the success of our recruitment strategy.
